(As you probably already noticed,) Rundoo now has product images!
About two weeks ago, we started maintaining a master database of products and their images. If your product matches one in the database, we will display an image.
Where do images appear?
The short answer is in a bunch of places!
In particular, images appear in all sales, orders, and transfers across all statuses.
This includes on your mobile POS and the customer app! When your customers open up a sale they made at your store, they will see product images.
What if a product doesn’t have an image?
You’ll find that some of your products don’t have images. This is due to either of the below:
For you, no UPC. We match products to the master database based on their universal product code (UPC). If you don’t have a 12-digit UPC on a product, it won’t be matched.
For us, no image. There are still UPCs in client systems where we haven’t found an image yet. We are tracking the most commonly sold products that we are missing, and we will continue to update them over time.
Can you help me add UPCs?
In building this, we noticed that some clients have very few UPCs on their products. We have built a tool to add UPCs! For each product, it will examine if it thinks there is a good match. If so, it will add the UPC. For example, if we see a product with identifier N5471X01 sold by Benjamin Moore, we can be pretty certain it should have UPC 023906760779.
Once the UPC is added, images will appear. As an added bonus, the UPC can also be used for anything that requires barcode scanning (like inventory counts).
For now, we can run this tool for you, but in the future, we may put it somewhere in Rundoo for you to run yourself.
Message support if you want us to enrich your data with UPCs.
What next?
Similar to how we update the master database of colors, we plan to continually update the master database of products. We also hope to add additional data to the products, like their names, Technical and Safety Data Sheets (TDS, SDS), descriptions, and related products.
In the future, we hope to use this database in a bunch of ways: to help you make recommendations to your customers, to display safety information, to enable e-commerce, and more.
