Hi there,
I hope you have all had a great week. Things have been busy at Rundoo, as per usual. We move so fast at Rundoo that we sometimes forget to highlight the smaller, quality-of-life updates. These tweaks might seem minor, but they come directly from your requests on the idea board 💡 and make a massive difference in your day-to-day.
This week’s primer is focused entirely on the most commonly used tab in Rundoo - Transactions. As we move into the Fall 🍂, it felt like an appropriate time to give the Transactions tab a makeover with some functional tweaks along the way.
✨ A Cleaner, Easier-to-Scan Cart
Let’s start on the surface - how has the Transactions tab actually changed?
Well, you told us that having every item’s edit options fully expanded made large orders hard to manage.
Not only does it look back, it’s not good for your brain 🧠. That amount of information creates cognitive overload - ending with a slower counter and a busier mind. The exact opposite of what we want to happen at your counter.
Now, you can see that each item has a cleaner look in the cart. The functionality behind each item has not changed. Once you add an item to your cart it opens up, so that you can still edit the price or add a specific note about a product. Once you add the next item, the item before collapses to make it neat and tidy 📦. Of course, you can go back and reopen this if you decide you need to alter anything or add any specific notes. Check out this quick demo below.
To recap - same functionality, tighter look.
Big thanks to Yash for all his thoughtful work on this 🙌. We’ve already heard from clients how much they appreciate this facelift.
💳 More Flexible Deposits
While we are in the Transactions tab, let’s look a little under the hood 🔧. Way back in May (doesn’t that feel like a different year altogether?!) we introduced deposits for special orders. Today, we are expanding that capability. You can now take a deposit and partially close out quotes, will calls, and entire carts that include both special-order and stock-items.
This was a popular ask from all of our clients. This removes some real friction at the counter. Having the capability to take a deposit on a normal sale helps to guarantee that the customer will come pick up the stock. It also makes things quicker at the counter. Previously, the blended stock/special-order set-up was a bit cumbersome (some may have called it a little messy). Split invoices were something we heard were causing some grief and just plain annoying to track. This update means there is a single invoice even when there is a mix of in stock/special-order items. This makes things quicker, and neater, which is always a goal at the counter.
Shoutout to Kyle and Ozair for working on this, and to Alan for steering the team 🤝.
⚡️Speeding up that Counter
As I said up top, things move really quickly at Rundoo, and sometimes we have to pause on building out the new features and focus in on improving existing features, things that are really important quality-of-life elements that you need for your store. I love to see how much the product changes and how connected those changes are to your feedback, and to see that Rundoo is really focused on partnering with all of you to speed up that counter and bring your store the best technology out there 🚀 to help your business thrive.
As always, if you need any more information or want to talk through the how or the why of anything in Rundoo, book some time to chat with me.
Until next time 👋,
Dee
