đ¤ Rundoo Primer: Getting started with AI Agents
Three agent types, three real use cases, and two quick updates
Summary: A lot of you have been asking what AI Agents in Rundoo actually do and how to put them to work. This week we walk through the three kinds of agents, share three real ways store owners are using them today, and cover two quick updates on tag edits and gift card lookups.
1. AI Agents in Rundoo
What is this?
AI Agents live in the âRundoo AIâ tab in your dashboard. Each agent is a helper you set up to do a specific job on a schedule you choose. You write your instructions in plain English, pick how often it should run, and it goes to work.
There are three kinds of agents you can pick from:
Daily Summary: Looks at how your business is doing as a whole. It always includes a daily activity section and gives you context on overall performance.
Orders: Builds orders for you based on the rules you set.
Reports: Digs into your reports and pulls out what matters.
What does this mean?
You donât need to write code or learn a new system. You tell the agent what you want the same way youâd tell an employee. Some agents can also take action on your behalf when you ask them to, like adding a tag to a customer or updating a product. Youâre still in charge of what gets set up and what runs.
Why is this important?
Most store owners and managers are juggling cycle counts, vendor calls, walk-ins, and a stack of reports theyâve been meaning to get to since Tuesday. Agents take some of that off your plate. They run in the background, do the busywork, and bring back what you actually need to act on.
What does this look like?
Here are three ways store owners are using agents right now:
Tagging new customers automatically. Run a daily reporting agent that looks at every new customer added that day. The agent decides if theyâre residential (the homeowner grabbing a gallon of Aura for a bedroom), commercial (the contractor buying ten gallons of primer), or something else, and tags them. No more Friday afternoon tag cleanup.
Assigning sales reps to your largest accounts. Run a monthly report on your top customers, whether thatâs painting contractors, big hardware buyers, or your largest farm and feed accounts. The agent looks at where each customer is located and assigns the right sales rep based on territory. If you commission off this report, your monthly commission run gets a lot easier too.
Catching pricing thatâs drifted out of line. Costs on lumber, fertilizer, and hardware keep moving. Set up a weekly Friday agent to flag products where your price hasnât kept up with rising costs. The agent comes back with recommendations, and you decide what to adjust. Thatâs a chunk of report-staring you no longer have to do yourself.

Look up gift card balances from the mobile app
Open the mobile app, head to Payment Methods, and either scan the gift card or type the number into the lookup box. The balance comes right up. Handy when a customer asks at the register or when youâre walking the floor.
