What is new with Rundoo?
We've completely changed how returns work in your system. 📋 Before, when a customer returned an item, it would mess with your original sale numbers. Now returns create their own separate credit record. This means your bookkeeping stays clean and your aging reports make sense.
Here's what changed:
Sales and returns now show up together in the completed tab
Returns create account credits instead of changing original sales
The old "Sold with Return" status is gone
What does this mean?
Let's say Stanley Johnson bought 5 gallons of Benjamin Moore Aura for $250 on her charge account. 💳 Later, he returns 2 gallons because she bought too much. Before, this would reduce his original sale to $150. Now, his original $250 sale stays the same, and he gets a $100 credit on her account.
This keeps your records accurate. The original sale still shows as $250 in your aging reports. Mr. Johnson can use his $100 credit toward future purchases or to pay down his balance.
Why is this important?
Clean books matter for your paint store. 📊 When returns changed original sales, it made your aging reports confusing. You couldn't tell how old receivables really were. This made it hard to follow up on past due accounts.
Now your aging report tell the real story. A sale from 60 days ago still shows the amount owed even if part of it was returned in the correct aging bucket. This helps you manage cash flow better and keep track of customer payment patterns.
What does this look like?
When you process a return now, you'll see both the original sale and the return in your completed tab. 👀 If you click on a returned item, you can see exactly which return it's linked to. No more guessing or digging through old records.
For charge account customers, the return creates a credit that shows up on their account statement. They can use this credit for their next paint purchase or apply it to their current balance.
This update gets us ready for our next big feature: exchanges and unlinked returns. 🚀 We're building a system that makes sense for how paint and hardware stores really work.
