How do Rundoo and COLORx® work together?
You can send tinted products between COLORx® and Rundoo.
Happy Friday, folks! We are staying strong with a third consecutive week of the Rundoo Primer. Today is all about COLORx®, Benjamin Moore’s proprietary tint machine software.
We recently launched an integration with COLORx®: users can now send the information of a tinted product between COLORx® and Rundoo. In this post, we’ll talk through how the integration works and the three ways we’ve seen our clients adopt it.
Before we begin, we encourage you to talk to your Benjamin Moore rep about all of this! Benjamin Moore is the expert on all things color. They are of course the authors of COLORx®, and they know their paint and COLORx® best.
Without further ado, let’s jump in to the integration.
How it Works
Send to POS
Everything starts as normal: enter a product, color, and quantity in COLORx®. Dispense like you normally would.
The change happens when you are done tinting. Click “Send to POS.”
Once you’ve completed that flow, you’ll see a tint number. This is a unique 10-digit identifier for this particular formula and product.
At this point, the tinted product exists in Rundoo! Directly under the search bar in your Sales tab, you can see the number of tinted products that haven’t yet been added to a sale.
To add the tinted product to the sale, simply select one or more and “Add to sale.”
This will add the product with the color and formula to the current sale. Now, you can complete it like normal!
Retrieve from POS
Let’s say that customer comes back and wants another gallon of the same product. You can pull up the same tinted product in COLORx® via “Retrieve from POS”. Enter the tint number, and COLORx® will pull up that tinted product.
How to use this?
Since we have rolled this out, we’ve seen clients respond in three ways:
Use for all transactions. Some clients start all sales from the tint machine. They’ve trained their staff to send each tinted product to Rundoo. This ensures that exactly what was tinted is on the receipt.
Use for just custom colors. Some retailers have seen this primarily as a way to replace reference numbers for custom colors. When a tinted product goes from COLORx® to Rundoo, the data includes the formula. As such, the customer can feel like that formula is theirs.
Don’t use. Still other clients haven’t changed anything! That’s totally fine by us. We’ve heard that because of Rundoo’s search functionality, putting the correct color has been easy enough.
What next?
If you are a current client who would like to set this up, let me know. We can help you get it working in your system.
