Can I stay open and count inventory? 🤔
Yes! Inventory counts adjust to reflect sales and other activity.
A quick note before jumping in: If you are considering making a switch this winter, please reach out asap! The next couple months are stacking up to be quite busy, and we are committed to ensuring everyone has an awesome experience.
Can I stay open and count?
Thank you to everyone who tested inventory counts this week! Nothing we do would be possible without your input.
Today I want to address one change we made in response to a question that consistently came up as people tested this new feature: “Can I stay open and count?”
Most clients told us they historically closed their business for a day or two while staff counted inventory with a clipboard, pen, and paper. Closing of course meant lost sales, but it seemed necessary to avoid throwing counts off every time a product was sold.
Well, when we first released the feature to beta testers last week, that is how it worked in Rundoo. Any inventory changes that occurred during a count would have to be updated manually.
But now…
Yes, you can stay open
Long story short: if you sell inventory, your counts will adjust in real-time.
An example
Say you do the world’s simplest count: just your poly foam brushes. It turns out you have twelve 1” brushes, and Rundoo thought you had nine. Yay discovering inventory!
You don’t want to immediately change your inventory, so you save the count to review later.
Now, let’s pretend someone sells one of these brushes before you’ve completed the count.
The count automatically adjusts to eleven! 🎉
What about other activity?
Counts adjust to reflect all inventory updates. This is true whether you sell a product, receive a purchase order, or transfer inventory to another location. The count will always update in real time.
What next?
The inventory counts feature is now on—for everyone!
Before closing, I want to give a special shoutout to the businesses that tested it out this week. In alphabetical order, a big thank you to 🙏
